Maybe smoky rasberry? Interesting
Haunted Hayride was a bit musty but all of the Halloween Candles are, but in the best way possible. It smelled a bit like rasberry and smoke and woods. Not my favorite of the halloweens but not bad.

Needs improvement
The scent is nice. However it’s not at all powerful enough to get more than 2 feet away from the candle. It doesn’t fill the room with fragrance as it should. Also, the flame burns incredibly small. Hardly generates enough heat to melt the surface of the candle even when burned for 5 hours. I expect more from Yankee Candle.

My new favorite fall scent!
I decided to give Haunted Hayride a whirl a couple of years ago because Witch’s Brew was unavailable that particular year; it has become my new fall/Halloween favorite scent! I love the smoky, campfire hints. It’s not overpowering and makes my house smell lovely for the holiday.

Smells SOOO good!
It's amazing how familiar smells can take you back to childhood. I've been searching for a scent that resembles the now discontinued (and my absolute fave) Sparkling Fireflies and I have found it in this candle! You've totally captured the essence of the end of Summer and beginning of Fall - the rustle of newly fallen leaves, the scent of crisp air and Halloween candy. An added bonus is the beautiful deep purple color. I'm not sure HOW you do this but I'll leave the magic to you! Bravo Yankee Candle...Bravo!

Sister hated it, but I find it addicting!
It’s hard to explain, but this candle reminds me of black licorice. It has a sweet undertone but can be really tricky to pinpoint what exactly the smell is. You may be best going into the store to experience it as while I light this one every night, some of my family will try to snuff it out early.

Has little to no smell
So I am new to Yankee Candles. I always thought they were the best in the business. After years of seeing their stores in malls, I decided to purchase some candles online. I went a little overboard and bought 10+ candles and several accessories as you can see in my picture. Out of all the candles I bought and have burnt, the smell is just not there. I love the Haunted Hayride smell when it isn’t lit and first open the top, but when it is, I can’t smell it at all. I have been reviewing many of the comments on various candles and there is one very consistent message - the candles use to be great but now many of them has little to no smell. I see Yankees response to them to reach out and they will assist. My question is: is this feedback making it to management? Are they going to do anything about it? To spend $31 per candle is very high especially when the quality is not there. :-(

Most unique scent
Most unusual scent unlike any other. Smells like a barn near a compost pile. Good one to burn while watching a scary movie, on your deck, or in your garage or shed.

Not what I expected
The candle I received smelled so different from the listed scent profile that I double-checked the label just to be sure I got what I ordered. I was disappointed that it has a very sweet, fake-berry/grape scent and none of the woodsy, spicy notes I expected. Throw radius doesn’t seem to live up to usual Yankee standards either— I’m curious if there was a “bad” batch?

Too sweet and soapy smelling
I tried this for Fall because of other reviews and I'm a huge fan of Witches Brew. This is way too sweet (in a floral way) and soapy smelling. Didn't smell anything like the description for me. I won't be buying this again.

Light and spooky Halloween scent!
This is a very nice candle for Halloween decoration and enhancement. The color is a fun, spooky, purple. The smell is not overpowering but can fill a room easily. It is a finely balanced scent between musky and sweet. I don't know how they made hay smell good but they did!

Not just for fall
This is a wonderful fall fragrance if you like something woodsy and smoky. There's a hint of apple in there which balances those notes. It's a masculine fragrance, but not in a man's cologne kind of way. It's classy and calming. Reminds me of a room fragrance I purchased from Neiman Marcus a few years ago. I wish Yankee carried this all year.
As for the throw, it's not super strong, but you notice it in a medium sized room. I typically burn it in my office and it gets pretty strong in there.

PRETTY to look at, but NO SMELL!
Just like others have said, this has little to no scent when burning. I'm very disappointed in this product as this is the first candle I've bought that seems to have no throw. I got 2 of them so I lost out big time!

Delightful scent
My new favorite scent! The soft subtle fruity scent is inviting to one’s environment. When picking this out I was not in the store to smell so I had to go by its description. Let me just say that they were spot on with it. I’m planning on buying more. Definitely not just a fall smell.

Better than expected!
I went to Yankee to get my traditional witches brew for fall and decided to take a chance on this one. I really like it! it is very fresh and reminds me of my childhood taking haunted hayrides. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking to get into the Halloween spirit!

Scent doesn’t fit the name
It smells nice but it shouldn’t be marketed as “haunted hayride” unless your hayride typically smells like dryer sheets. I’m sure a different fragrance could have been picked for this theme. Something like apples or cider. Or trees….

Bring on the spooky!
If you're like me, you're probably wondering, "what could possibly make a Haunted Hayride smell good?" Well, take a seat and listen up, you lil' whippersnappers, and I'll tell ya. There's a freshness to this scent that gives you the feel of a crisp fall evening without the dreaded process of going outside. As if that weren't enough, though, there's a fruity scent in here as well, as if you can smell what a witch is brewing deep in the forest. This is a GREAT candle to have burning while you have guests over for Halloween.
