It smells like Halloween night
Pleasantly surprised! I bought this without smelling it and it really does capture that sensory nostalgia of a brisk Halloween night. All the notes feel subtle but balanced. At first it feels like when you pull into a forest trail when it’s cold and wet - the way you can smell the forest so well. The fresh air and foliage. Then there’s some hint of campfire. And some spiciness - like pumpkin spice. Then a very subtle scent of candied apples. My family is really enjoying it. It’s bringing the cozy Fall sentiments into our home very nicely.

Smells good in jar but that's it
I was so excited about this candle and scent. It smelled amazing when it isn't lit. I burned it 3 different time and never smelled anything. I'm beyond disappointed. It's a fabulous smell when you pop the lid. But that's it. I hope candle is a fluke. Wish I could get another one. But no one responded to my complaint.

I wanted a new Halloween candle this year, so I gave this a try. The fragrance isn't exactly what I was expecting from the description, but it's pleasant enough. Smells like spicy grape to me — a little too sweet to be spooky. Pretty deep purple color.

Witches Brew has been my favorite of the Halloween collection, but I have to say Haunted Hayride has taken the lead! It just has a little more scent as well as a crisper fragrance that I just love!

I didn't know what to expect from this candle, yet ended up pleasantly surprised!
This candle questioned the conventions of autumnal smells I've grown accustom to (pumpkin, spices, and apples) with something a bit more mysterious, yet welcoming. This certainly isn't as earthy or organic as a walk through a muddied forest, but sweet and cozy. There's an air of mystery, like an aromatic breeze creeping through your window on a cozy moonlit night.
Less dark and murky than Witches Brew, but still evokes a memory of Halloween!

Unique Twist on Halloween
I am going to review Haunted Hayride on cold smell, I like to read the notes before purchasing but my review is based on my own impression outside of the notes listed. This one is definitely unique, as I smell unsurprisingly ... hay and a hint of black pepper. There is also a dark grape soda vibe that seems to be somewhere in the background and even a touch of pine or pine needle. It's hard to describe because this candle is really well blended. The jar label definitely matches this scent, two horse's looking into a foggy light green forest. That sets the mood for cool Autumn nights!

I’m really enjoying this scent so far this year. I bought one hoping i would like it based on the description and it didn’t disappoint so I got two more. It has good throw, fills my den with a wonderful smoky citrusy woodsy smell. One of my new halloween favorites.

Long lasting fragrance
This started off subtle but I let it burn for several straight hours in my open plan main floor and after about the first hour or so it had subtly sweetened the whole floor. There is a fruityness to this scent that isn't overwhelming. The fragrance lasted for the rest of the day even after I extinguished the flame.

Exactly as advertised
The name is fitting - it smells like the hay on a haunted hayride! Smokey and dark, and perfect for Halloween! I would recommend this candle, but it's not for everyone! It can tickle your nose (it really is like hay), and some are adverse to such dark scents (almost like black licorice). For me, it's a candle I can't pass without taking a quick sniff.

Not "Spooky" enough
My favorite Yankee Candle scent is Santa's Pipe, which I hope is not permanently retired. When I saw that this was going to have a focus on charcoal and nutmeg, I thought it would be the perfect Halloween counterpart to my Christmas favorite. There is very little charcoal or woodsy smell to this candle. While the overall scent is not powerful, it is too sweet and floral, taking away anything that could play up a "haunted" feeling. Needs more charcoal/campfire, grass/hay, and musk to truly pull it off.
