Description
To enjoy your candles to their fullest, a certain amount of care is required. Keeping their wicks trimmed properly will help your candles burn fully and last longer. Specifically, your candle's wick should be trimmed after every 4 hours of burn time. Let the candle come to room temperature, then trim the wick to 1/8-inch before relighting. That length helps create complete combustion, which means less soot is formed while the candle is burning. This is where our Perfect Wick Trimmer comes in - place the bottom of the trimmer flush with the candle surface, rock the trimmer back so that its "elbow" rests on the surface, this keeps the trimmer at a 45-degree angle and helps ensure the cut is to the proper length. Simple! Enjoy your candles and their fragrances, then repeat again after every 4 hours of burn time.

Works as intended and looks great. It's a blunt cutter and can squish/fray the wick if you're not careful though.

Must Have Candle Accessory
This is a must have add-on for anyone who burns candles regularly because otherwise you can't trim the wick very easily. Using this trimmer gives you a nice even wick trim so that the candle burns evenly afterward. In addition, you can easily see just how high the wick will be when you cut it.

Fraying wicks
I have another Yankee candle trimmer and it works great. This one though does not cut clean and frays all my wicks. I have to say I am thoroughly disappointed in this product.

Newer design, not improved!
I have had a Yankee Candle wick trimmer for several years. It was a silver/pewter color and still worked great; I actually gave it to my granddaughter when I purchased this one. I realize that it could be "stiffer" to use b/c it is new, but it also seems to be out of alignment within the cutting feature. I also prefer the older design of a smaller, rounder cutting edge. This one is harder to use in judging the wick cut spot, so that I often cut too short! Wish I still had my old one!
