Yes, it fits perfectly! I would suggest using the glass lid from the candle / jar when you want to put out the flame. This keeps you from having soot inside your tree candle holder! I love this holder and it looks wonderful at night, with the lights flickering inside!

It technically COULD, yes. I have this lantern. It's large and uts gorgeous. However I'd b concerned about it rusting if left outside all the time. It is primarily metal construction. Very humid here in the south where we live.

I have not burned a candle all the way down in the lantern yet, however I do not see it getting to hot. The lantern has little feet so it does not sit directly on the surface and the bottom is metal and has a ring inside of it to put the candle inside of. Hope this answers you question for you.

The effect is more impactful the lower the flame is burning at. Though it still has impact at say the start of a large jar candle. As for size the only thing to really keep in mind is anything with a circumference larger than the bottom of a large jar candle may not fit in the holders metal rim at the bottom.
