Basic Candle Care

Follow these tips to get the most enjoyment out of your candles.

Trim Your Wick
Keep your wicks trimmed to the length stated on the candle’s bottom label. The Perfect Wick Trimmer is a great tool to use to trim your wick before every burn.

Reduce Draftsl
If you want to reduce flickering and smoke, keep your candle away from drafts or use an Illuma-Lid® Jar Candle Topper or Candle Shades.

Let the Wax Pool
For the best burn and the boldest fragrance, let your candle burn until the entire top layer becomes a pool of liquid wax from edge to edge before extinguishing it.

Protect Surfaces
You should always burn your candle on a heat-resistant coaster or tray so that your surfaces are protected from the heat of the candle.

Extinguishing Your Candle
Gentle is the name of the game when blowing out your candle. Take care not to splash the wax – a Candle Snuffer can put out the flame quickly and safely.

Saying Goodbye
When the wax is 1/2 of an inch or less from the bottom of the jar, it’s time to replace your candle. Recycle your jar or upcycle it into something new, and treat yourself to a new fragrance!
