Not what i was hoping for.
I should have waited until the votives were available in stock again as I had to p urchase the small jar; 10.99, and am not that crazy about this scent. Amber, oak, sage...i like them all however i do not think the actual scent smells like any of these let alone a combination of all three. I agree with another reviewer, it does smell like a mens cologne; but not strong. I think its cold scent throw is stronger than while burning. I personaly wont purchase this one again.

Incredible Fragrance
Wow, what a fragrance! Over the River is a masculine fragrance not unlike that of Old Spice aftershave. This fragrance fills the room and its fragrance lingers long after the candle has become extinguished. Definitely a keeper in my arsenal of candles. This is one of my son-in-law's favorite candles and it is among one of the candles I give him every year for Christmas. Good job on this one, Yankee Candle.

WOW! What a crisp/clean scent that I think will appeal to both men & women. Can't go wrong;.))
One of my favorite new (new to me @ least, not sure how long it's been out) scents from Yankee! Just got a few of these smaller sizes to try 1st b4 giving as gifts. I loved and so did the hubby (& he usually always says blow that smelly candle out.."it smells like my Grandma's bathroom/house" of course meaning way to feminine or "old lady" smelling to him. Sorry, just relaying what he means. So if you are expecting a more feminine scent it isn't. It is a fresh, more of a relaxing aromatherapy scent, & smells mildly like a mans cologne but yet no where near as potent as Mid Summer's Night Dream. Just a med. fresh/clean scent that you can definitely smell sage in it while burning. Will purchase again for sure.

Over the river and through the woods...
Over The River is an extremely calming scent. It has a very fresh, clean, and mildly Earthy fragrance, with a bit of orange/citrus, sage, and a hint of sandalwood or oak. In my opinion, it does smell a bit like a bar of soap, but not in a bad way. It's a nice scent to have burning on a warm summer/autumn night!
