Yankee Candle seeks to make a strong impact on the communities in which we do business by both corporate and employee participation in the United Way.
We have a proud tradition of giving to local organizations in the communities of western Massachusetts where many of our employees live and work.
In 2010, in addition to the United Way, American Heart Association and the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Yankee Candle will support a broad-based group of local charitable organizations.
Please note that western Massachusetts is the focus of Yankee Candle's charitable giving. The Company does not support organizations outside this geographic area except for the national programs already in place.
- All funding requests for 2011 must be submitted by August 30, 2010. Decisions are made by November 30 and, if approved, the organization will be notified in writing by December 31 (due to the large number of requests, those that do not meet the guidelines will not receive a response).
- Funding requests for 2010 will not be considered, as 2010 funding has been fully allocated.
To be eligible for a contribution, organizations must:
- Qualify as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
- Follow all guidelines as outlined herein
Submit a brief request in writing that:
- Provides a clear and concise description of the organization
- Provides the amount or type of support being requested
- States the purpose for which the donation will be used
- Gives the date when the organization needs the donation
- Includes the organization's tax exempt number
- Includes a list of the organization's board of directors and officers
Please send a copy of the most recent audited financial statements if the amount requested is $500 or more.
Approved contributions to a project or program imply no further commitment on behalf of Yankee Candle unless specifically stated at the time the initial funding is granted. The Yankee Candle Company, Inc. reserves the right to make all final decisions and interpretations under these guidelines.

No matter how worthy the effort or undertaking, Yankee Candle does not support:
- Individuals
- Individuals who participate in an athletic event on behalf of a charity
- Team sponsorship and/or travel expenses
- Student exchange or travel programs
- Private schools
- Program book and yearbook advertising
- Religious, political or fraternal organizations
- Beauty pageants or talent contests
- Capital campaigns and multi-year pledges
- Endowments
Nonprofit organizations to which Yankee Candle is unable to make a direct contribution may have the opportunity to raise funds by selling Yankee® candles. Yankee Candle Fund-Raising, a division of Yankee Candle, can respond to requests for the purpose of fund-raising. For more information, contact:
